GDPR Privacy Notice

All information discussed through email, phone, or in sessions is treated as confidential. However, there are two specific situations where I may need to share your information:

In cases where there is a genuine concern for your safety or the safety of others, I may need to communicate relevant information to emergency services or your general practitioner (GP) to ensure appropriate support and intervention are provided. This is done with the intention of preventing harm and prioritizing your well-being.

If there is a court order or legal requirement that necessitates the disclosure of information, I am obligated to comply with these regulations as outlined in my professional code of ethics.

Maintaining confidentiality is an essential aspect of my practice, and I take it seriously to create a safe and trusting therapeutic environment. Any disclosure of information outside of these specific circumstances would only occur with your explicit consent or as required by law.

How will my data be stored?

In May 2018 the Data Protection Act was replaced by the General Data Protection Regulations  (GDPR). The changes to the Data Protection Act are aimed at ensuring that your personal,  confidential and sometimes sensitive data is held privately and securely.

How long will you hold my information for?

This depends on the organisations you’re registered with. For example the NCH (of which you are all  student members) says “You should keep written records stored securely for 8 years after the last  interaction with an adult client and up to the age of 25 for a child under 16 when last seen or 26yrs for  17-18 year old.

What if I would like my data to be destroyed before this date?

Under GDPR rules, you are able to request the deletion of any of your records at any time.

Am I able to see or get a copy of the information held by you?

In line with GDPR, yes, within 30 days

What are your Reasons for collecting this information?

The data will be stored with the view to be supporting information throughout our therapeutic relationship.

How do I know that you will store my information securely?

Your information will always be secured. Most will be held into a password protected folder on a cloud drive, only my account has access to it. Any information that is collected on paper during our sessions will be transferred to the online folder straight away and the paper version will be disposed of immediately.

Are our discussions within the hypnotherapy sessions confidential?

Yes, unless I need support from my supervisor or I believe that you are about to harm yourself or another.

What if I see you outside of a hypnotherapy session?

I will never approach or give any indication of knowing you. This is to protect your right to privacy, but you are free to speak to me if you so wish.

Will you discuss information about me with other health and social care professionals?

Only with your written consent.
